West Erie County, DWCO Randy Leighton Conditions: Anglers trying their luck on the Walnut Creek channel and in the basin continue to pull in the occasional steelhead although patience and persistence seem to be the key. Presque Isle Bay and Misery Bay have been covered with ice huts on the weekends but catches are still scattered. Bluegills and other sunfish have been plentiful but small. A lot of holes have been drilled in the bay in search of Perch but most catches have been small and the numbers low. Those anglers that have had success have reported shiners to be the bait. There have been a few unconfirmed reports of a few pike caught at the West end of the Bay. Ice thickness is varied on the Bay from 7" to 9". A few anglers were observed ice fishing the upper gravel pit pond in Fairview with limited success. Ice has been shifting at the mouth of Trout Run making conditions there a bit tough and unstable. 2004 Erie County Pre Season Stocking Schedule: Cascade Creek Friday, April 16, meet at 10:00 a.m. at West 8th Street-between Greengarden & Bay Front Highway - 12th St Bridge to Mouth at Presque Isle Bay Conneauttee Creek Tuesday, March 16, meet at 9:15 a.m. at F D Walker Building - 99 Erie Street (Old Post Office) Normal St Bridge to Route 99 Crooked Creek Friday, April 16, meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Fairview Fish Culture Station, T360 (Gloskey Rd.)
